Home Delivery Hub

We are still open for telephone orders and home deliveries.
Please call 01494 568 653 between 11am and 3pm.

27th March: Please check back here or on our Facebook page for the latest news as we are dealing with a quickly changing situation.

Thank you sincerely for your patience and understanding whilst we have been organising the shop to help you in this difficult time.

We are absolutely committed to helping our community during this crisis, whilst ensuring the safety of our volunteers and staff. We have therefore re-assessed our processes and can now advise how we will go forward for the time being – we will become your ‘Home Delivery Hub’.

This means that we will not be open for customers to enter the shop, but we will be open for daily customer orders for home delivery. (The Coffee Shop has converted into the delivery control centre!) Orders will initially only be taken over the phone, however, we are considering the possibility of accepting email orders too – we will confirm this in due course. We can take urgent, small shopping requests and card payments at the door although we wish to keep these to an absolute minimum as the phone is constantly ringing and our focus will be on fulfilling the orders for delivery. We have a large team of willing delivery volunteers at the ready, and most of our suppliers are still able, and planning to, deliver as it stands at the moment.

Ordering

In the immediate future, we will therefore be open Monday – Saturday from 11am – 3pm for telephone orders to the shop – 01494 568653. We may be able to extend these hours until 4pm depending on demand, but we will advise of this as and when it becomes necessary and viable. Delivery volunteers will then be on a rota to collect the bags and deliver throughout the afternoon.

Key Workers

For key workers such as teachers still teaching in schools, emergency service and healthcare workers, we understand that you will probably not be able to make phone calls during your day, so we are happy for you to drop off shopping lists in a designated box outside the shop and we will make this order up for you. (Please leave your name and telephone number and we will call you later for payment).

For the safety of our volunteers and staff, all shop activities will be broken down into specific, separate time frames to ensure that staff are able to safely social distance from each other, whilst continuing with the vital activities of the shop.

We are also in the process of launching our Website (which we have been working on, although we will launch it sooner than planned in perhaps a more basic format). We will use this to communicate notices regarding such things as changes to opening hours and new stock deliveries. We will advise when this is ‘live’. We will also be sending out regular communication by email so if you know anyone who would like to be added to the email list, please ask them to email me at shopmanager@nullvalleyshop.org Please also tell any of your family, friends and neighbours about the home delivery service.

We have had a huge and truly heart-warming number of people signing up to help in any way that they can – many new volunteers in the shop and offers of deliveries and shopping trips to the wholesalers – it is this amazing effort that means we can support our community, this could not be done without them so ‘Thank you’.

We would also like to say a big thank you to our small and local suppliers who are maintaining deliveries – Sarah and team at Darvell’s Bakery – delivering fresh bread six days per week, Wells Farm Dairy delivering milk on demand, James and team of Blackwood’s Foods of Henley (ham, cheese and yoghurts), Tim and team at Beechwood Eggs with extra deliveries, Carol at Absolute Cuisine, making and delivering pies and frozen ready meals, Keith at Chiltern Farm with extra supplies of bacon, and extra special thanks go to Dean and his team at Timpson’s Smallholding, who have literally been delivering meat such as minced beef, chicken breasts, lamb chops and sausages, sometimes twice a day to keep up with demand so ‘Thank you’ to all!

We thank you again for your understanding and wish everyone very best wishes for staying safe and well.

Louise Jones, on behalf of Hughenden Valley Community Shop
